KONKHRA Contemplate Releasing Next CD Through Own Label On Eve Of Recording Sessions
March 4, 2002Denmark's KONKHRA are preparing to enter the studio to begin recording their brand new studio album, which may or may not surface through the group's own record label later in the year. According to mainman Anders Lundemark, we will probably commence recording this month. We are almost finished with the remixes for the Greatest Shits album, due out later this spring on either our own label or Diehard Music. We are also currently engaging in serious discussions concerning the validity of our past [record sales] statements and contracts [with Diehard Music]. On Tuesday we have a meeting with a music attorney who will hopefully cast some light on the 'missing royalty' situation and also make some serious number crunching for us to make it clear whether we should form our own record label and release the fifth record on our own label. We have some very interesting offers from distributors that makes it look very attractive to us, and even though this will most definitely strain the availability of the record worldwide, we like this solution since it means that we can triple our income and sell the product ourselves without third-party involvement. Our question for [our fans] is this: if the option was offered, would you pay approximately 8$ via the Internet (by credit card) to get access to a full download of the record including artwork? This is most definitely the future for most independent artists, we are just not sure whether its too early to launch releases this way. Bear in mind that this doesn't exclude that we will produce regular CDs that will be available at least as widespread as what we've been used in the past...
